Tampa, Fla., (September 26, 2017) – The National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI Worldwide) is excited to announce yet another key industry partnership – one with The Florida Aquarium. On September 7, 2017, NAUI Executive Director Dallas Edmiston and Director of Marketing and Communications Derik Crotts met with The Florida Aquarium President & CEO Richard Germann and Vice President of Operations Casey Coy to sign an agreement focused on promoting shared goals and values.

‘Although The Florida Aquarium has a long history of working with NAUI and employing NAUI leaders, this new agreement is much more comprehensive and maximizes opportunities for sharing resources and executing important initiatives,’ said Edmiston.

‘This [agreement] strongly connects two organizations whose values are very much in line with one another,’ said Germann. ‘The Florida Aquarium values our blue planet and aims to protect it through education, entertainment, conservation, and research, while NAUI promotes the enjoyment of underwater activities as safely as possible through quality education and promotes the preservation and protection of underwater environments.’

Alignment of The Florida Aquarium’s mission to NAUI’s purpose is clear – NAUI helps people to enjoy underwater activities as safely as possible through quality education and promotes the preservation and protection of underwater environments.

The Florida Aquarium (FLAQ) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit institution whose mission is to entertain, educate and inspire stewardship about the natural environment. The Aquarium’s Center for Conservation combines scientific research and animal rescue, rehabilitation and release programs that give needed support to animals in distress or imminent danger, and ecosystems that are faced with both natural and man-made threats.

The FLAQ-NAUI partnership establishes several mutual benefits, some of which include:

  • NAUI divers and members receive a 10% discount on full price tickets.
  • FLAQ exclusively promotes and uses NAUI as the training agency of choice for dive operations and ensures that NAUI is mentioned in dive-related programs.
  • FLAQ and the NAUI Green Diver Initiative will work together to promote environmental stewardship and the conservation and protection of aquatic and natural environments.
  • NAUI and FLAQ will develop and promote FLAQ specialty curriculum and customized certification cards for scientific diving programs, guest dive experiences, and standardized NAUI courses.

‘The Florida Aquarium was recognized as one of the top aquariums for interactive youth and group programs. This relationship provides continued opportunities to enhance awareness regarding the need to protect and preserve our aquatic environments.’ said Edmiston.

‘The Florida Aquarium is proud to continue strengthening our partnership with NAUI,’ said Germann. ‘We are excited to move forward with new goals that will benefit both institutions.’

As the FLAQ-NAUI partnership develops, more joint initiatives will be announced so stay tuned. Find out more about The Florida Aquarium and its Center for Conservation at www.flaquarium.org/. And when visiting, don’t forget to show your NAUI certification card to receive your 10% discount!
